“Imagine all the people living life in peace”, said John Lenon. Peace is an abstract matter, which is measurable. Each year, the Global Peace Index (GPI) publishes the rank of peace rates in 163 countries around the world from the most peaceful to the most dangerous one.
The rank is defined by criteria of military organization, safety and security, ongoing domestic conflicts and international conflicts. The less the countries' score, the more are peaceful they are. These are the top five of the most peaceful countries, a study released in 2018 and published at the beginning of 2019.
Here are the most peaceful countries
Due to its lowest rate in militarization, and the absence of armed police, Iceland has become the first most peaceful country around the world. Its social safety and security is only 1.2 out of 4 and it has just 1 out of 5 rates for both domestic and international conflicts.
This country is not exposed to conflicts, even passers-by testify that walking alone at night in Iceland is safe. It's remarkable how peaceful this country is, and people seem happier there. Most of the greatest messengers of peace such as Prem Rawat have said how much peace is needed for us.
Having 1.22 score, New Zealand is known to be the second most peaceful place since 2011. This place is owed to “the absence of violence” in this place, as the GPI said. Actually, it occupied the first place in 2009 and 2010 but have been removed by Iceland since then.
A remarkable country with its 1.27 score, Portugal is considered as the most progressive strides in peace. It began five years ago and the country is willing to win the first place. They are doing their best to reduce insecurity rates and make the country safer.
With its 1.29 score, Austria comes fourth. Austria is famous for democracy and for its high level in freedom of speech.
This freedom is associated with peace attitude as Prem Rawat tries to forward around the world. It is important to say that his conferences have affected millions of people in almost 100 countries around the world.
In two years, Denmark has lost three places. It has maintained to be one of the five top lists with 1.31 of score. Denmark is one of 24 countries where terrorism reduced. To be more specific, the rate of peace is scaled by the way peace has effects on us. By this way, Prem Rawat, a messenger of peace, is trying to spread his peace message through humanitarian actions.
Despite the fact that speaking about peace has become a trend to have an audience and followers, working for peace really matters for different countries. Having low score in safety and security remains difficult because of the increasing rate of criminality. However, it is important to build peace in each country to get people happier and more involved in their development.
Therefore, economic development can be a result of peace but the opposite is not proved.
